Frayser Residents Participate in Certified Neighborhood Leader Training

Residents of the Frayser community took part in the first of four sessions of the City of Memphis' Certified Neighborhood Leader Training.  The first of the four sessions began  March 21, 2013.  The Certified Neighborhood Leader Training occurs annually in the spring.  The program is free of charge and includes sessions designed to provide established and emerging neighborhood leaders with the tools needed to create positive change in their neighborhood.  Many of the Frayser residents pictured above serve in various neighborhood organization throughout Frayser that include Frayser Community Association, Alta Vista Neighborhood Association and Denver Park Neighborhood Association.      

The sessions provide information on the following:  basics of neighborhood organizing; understanding government; the new 3-1-1 call center; communications and event planning; financial management and grants; and crime and public safety.  Each session is held at the Office of Community Affairs located at 315 South Hollywood Street Memphis, TN 38104 (Hollywood and Central).  The phone number to the Office of Community affairs is 901-576-6260.
